JUMBLE SALE.
FRIDAY NEXT. The local Patriotic Society has circularised the local public soliciting gifts for the jumble sale to be held uext Friday alteruoon aud evening. The response so far has been very gratifying. On Friday morning a number of men will be at the Town Ha 1 ! to receive, sort out and price the goods ready for the sale. There will not be auy charge for admission to the hall and the public will get more than value tor cash expended. All goods unsold at the stalls after 9 o’clock will be submitted to auction. The school children are taking the matter up with enthusiasm and all sorts of gifts have been promised. One little fellow In the infant room was prepared to give all his owu and his father’s worldly possessions. He said, “ Please miss, I’ll give a cow ami a horse” and was going to commit himself to much, more when the teacher said that she thought his generosity had gone far enough. But the little chap meant it alright. Mr Brown has donated a sitting of purebred silver Wyandotte eggs. He guarantees ten chickens and values the sitting at 10s. If this price is not realised he will pay the cash value. Our old friend, Mr Smith, has donated two large volumes which should reach a fair price. One little girl said: “Please, I have got a pair of button shoes, they are two small (or me and I will give them.” They have been accepted. Another little girl has donated a doll’s perambulator. This gift represents a real sacrifice as the little one only received it recently. The Mayor asks that householders will not consider any gilt too infinitesimal lor tbe sale. Anything Irom a needle, to an anchor will be accepted, also produce, preserves, live stock, etc., etc.
