A RIOTOUS SOLDIER.
ASSAULTS THE POLICE. WELL ■ MERITED PUNISHMENT. At the Levin S.M, Court on Tuesday morning, T. Cameron (a member of the Expeditionary Forces'), R Cameron, and H. MacDonald, appeared before Justices charged with assaulting and resisting the police uniform. T. Cameron, was arrested for being drunk on Saturday night, when R. Cameron, and MacDonald attempted to rescue him. Constable Bagrie was tripped up, struck, and kicked, and Constable Greggan was struck on the face and cut, necessitating several stitches. T. Cameron, for resisting was convicted and discharged, and for assault on the police was fined £i and ordered to pay medical fee, £i is. R. Cameron, for assaulting the police was fined £2O and ordered to pay ros damage to a police overcoat, and was convicted and discharged for resisting the police. H. MacDonald was fined £lO for assault on the police and ordered to pay 9s 6d damage to a police helmet. He was convicted and discharged for obstructing the police. • The Justices said such disturbances must be put down.
