The Rev I). C. Bates wires today as follows: — Southerly wiuds moderate to strong ; weather probably cold and changeable, but there is a prospect of fair weather prevailing. There will probably he a hard frost to-night. The barometor has a rising tendency. Sea moderate, swell in straits, tides moderate.
