FOXTON’S VALUATIONS.

THE LONG DELAYED REVALUATION. At last night’s Council meeting a letter was read from the ValuerGeneral, advising that when the Foxton rate roll was returned on June Ist, a memo was entered against 3/3 Elizabeth Gray to the effect that the values were subject to possible alteration. The owner applied before 31st March last for a re-valuation, paying the prescribed fee. The valuation is not accepted and as every reasonable means of effecting a settlement have failed it is necessary to refer the valuation to the Assessment Court to determine the values. Will yon kindly advise me of the person nominated by your Council to represent it as assessor at the Assessment' Court. The Mayor said that when the last valuation was made by Mr Mason, of Levin, it was done in a very slip-shod and unsatisfactory manner. Repeated applications had been made for a re-valuation, but without success, It was decided ou the motion of Cr Bryant, seconded by Cr Wbibley, that the Valuer-General be informed that repeated requests fojr a fe-valualion of the Borough have been made, and if a sitting of the Assessment Court is to be held there will be several other objections. Also that G. H. Stiles, Esq., be nominated as the Council’s assessor.
