CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor).
Sir.—l think the Connell's action, some years ago, in icmoving the flag pole from the Triangle to Victoria Park was a stupid blunder, and I would suggest that the Council be asked to re erect it at the old place, together with a band rotunda. The cost would not be very great, and could, I think, come out of the reserves account. Have any of the Councillors seen what has happened to the flag pole since it was erected in the Park ? It serves no good purpose there. At a time of national rejoicing, and on special occasions, the flag should be flown, and what better place could be selected than in the Triangle ? If a rotunda were erected there, the band could occasionally play a programme, and it would be just what is wanted ior making public proclamations. I believe, sir, that the public would help the Council to re-erect the flagstaff and build a rotunda for public purposes. I would like to hear some Councillor bring the matter forward, because, sir, I am sure the public would endorse such action, Thanking you in anticipation, I am, etc,, Ratepayer.
