LADIES GUILD.
ANSWERING THE CALL
A special meeting of the local Ladies Guild was held yesterday to consider au urgent appeal from the Secretary of the Ladies Military Committee, Wellington, asking whether the Guild would assist in equipping beds and patients bed clothes; urgently needed at the military hospital at Trentham and for the home-coming wounded, and if so, to state the number they could so equip, After going carefully into the matter and recognising the urgency of the appeal, the Guild decided to equip six beds and patients clothes, the work to be completed by the end of next week, The Military Committee provides blankets, maltrasses and pillows. A meet ing of the Guild will be held at 230 p.m. to-morrow at the Council Chambers, when a full attendance of ladies is specially requested. The work of the local Ladies Guild is keenly appreciated by the Wellington Committee as is evidenced by the present special call and which means a very strenuous week for the Guild, but we are sure that they will deliver the goods !
