PUBLIC SCHOOLS’ DRILL COMPETITION.
On Tuesday two teams of boys from the Foxton School in charge of Mr Gabites competed in the Swedish drill competition at the Palmerston North show. The A squad tied with a Campbell Street School team for third place, and B squad came fourth. As very little time, apart from that allocated to this subject in the ordinary school 1 online, has been devoted to the boys’ training the result reflects credit upon their work. The points areas under: — pts, Campbell Street A squad in Campbell Street B squad 106 Foxton A squad 105 Campbell Street 105 Foxton B squad 103 West lind 95 College Street B squad 92 Terrance End 92 College Street A squad 88 Commenting on the drill generally, the judge, Mr Johnston, expressed himself as well pleased with the work done. In regard to the Foxton squads the judge said that they lost practically all their points thiough doing the exercises too quickly. In other respects their drill was very correct.
