MAY WORKING
During the month of May the amount of gas manufactured at the local works was 381,500 ft. which with the amount in holder on May Ist made a total of 383,500 ft. The amount sold to consumers for lighting was 178,900 ft., for cooking and heating 55,800 ft. and for power 74,000 ft., 31,000 ft, was used in the street lamps, 23,000 ft. in the works and there was 4000 ft. in the ''holder on June rst leaving 16,800 ft., representing per cent, of the output unaccounted for. Thirty-three tons of coal was carbonised yidling 11,500 ft. per ton. The earnings totalled ,£15963 7d made up as follows : gas sales (lighting) £99 5s sd, heat and power £39 3s 9d, meter rent 12s, coke sales £lO is 2d, tar sales £1 14s, weighing 14s fid, fitting account £6 9s 3d, labour fittings 2s fid, and miscellaneous £1 4s. The expenditure was as follows: Coal £45 7s fid, salaries and wages £3O ios 7ti, labour (services) £2 18s, (fittings) 7s, pipes (service) 17s 7d (mains) 10s, fittings £22 17s 4d, meters is rod, tools is sd, working expenses £l7 6s Bd, miscellaneous 10s fid, interest and sinking fund £59 11s Bd, total £lßl os id.
