MOUTOA NOTES.
(Own Correspondent), A pleasant little function took place at Moutoa on Wednesday night, when a number ot residents of the district and Moutoa School Old Boys gathered at the residence of Messrs Smith Bros., to bid farewell to Mr C. Bob ”)Bowe, who has volunteered for active service, and leaves with the next New Zealand Reinforcements. Mr Graham on behalf of Moutoa and Shannon hockey friends presented Mr Bowe with a wristlet watch, and in doing so referred to the recipient’s many good qualities, He was a “good sport,” and had taken a keen interest in sports of all kind in the district, last year being captain of the Moutoa Hockey Club, which won the Horowhenua Association’s competition. Mr Graham expressed the hope that they would have the pleasure in the near future ol welcoming Mr Bowe back to Moutoa. Mr Bowe feelingly responded. Among the toasts honoured was that ot Shannon and Koxton boys already serving their Country- Several musical items were rendered, and a very pleasant evening was brought to a close by the singing of the National Anthem,
