FUDDER’S PICTURES
The change o! programme screened at the Town Hall last evening was headed by a sensational film entitled, ‘’The Spirit and the Clay.” Paul, a young farmer, is discovered by a brilliant sculptor, who recognises the latent talent in the young man. Paul quickly rises to notoriety. He is unable to obtain a model for his statue of Fame. His sweetheart, a beautiful young girl, consents to pose, but later becomes seriously ill, Against the doctor’s wish, Paul, in his anxiety to complete the statue, delays his sweetheart’s rest, until one day, while posing, she falls dead. Paul’s mind is so affected by his great sorrow that his mind becomes unhinged, and he imagines that she still visits the studio, and her soul is entering into ihe clay which he is forming. The ending is sad, but the audience realises it was only way he could fiud happiness. Other good pictures are : “The Hopeless Game,” drama ; “Buster Gets the Worst of it,” comic; “The Pole Cat,” animal study; “Soubrette and the Simp,” comic; “Ham, the Piano Mover,” comic. There will be a complete change on Monday, featuring “Her Big Scoop,” A new idea in drama with Maurice Costello in the leading role, a strong story of newspaper life ; also a screaming comedy by the Keystone Co., “The Face on the Bar-room Floor” ; supported by other items of interest. The programme will be repeated on Tuesday.
