(To the Editor). Sir. — I wish to explain my reason for making a statement inferring that Mr Fraser had not served the borough as Councillor. I was assured by three of our leading meu that 17 years ago Mr Fraser was elected “Mayor” unopposed standing as a private citizen, and had not been a Councillor previously. I only found out the truth ou Wednesday that Mr Fraser was Councillor tor a term, and I am sincerely sorry that 1 allowed myself to be misled without making further inquiries.— I am, your sincerely, John Chrystai.t..
