WEDNESDAY’S ELECTION.

For the election ol Mayor and Councillors on Wednesday, 544 pallet papers were issued tor each election. In the Mayoral contest there were no informal papers, and for Councillors 14 electors failed to make their intention clear. The following table shows the number of votes cast for each candidate and also the percentage of the valid votes cast each number represents; —

Of the candidates who also took part in the Wt 3 election the number of voles polled by each ou the occasion, and the percentage of the total valid votes cast was: Henderson 550 174.82), Coley 537 (73.06), Whibiey 507 (68,97), Freeman 457 (62.17), Read 339 (46.12). In connection with the election of Councillors on Wednesday, 2,702 individual votes were cast, giving an average per voting paper of 6.98. At last election the average was 7,26, in rgtr 7.12, and in 1909 7.26.
