BOMBARDMENT OF DUNKIRK.
BY GERMAN WARSHIPS. OFFICIALLY DENIED. High Commissioner’s report London, 20th April, 8.15 p.m. Press Bureau officially denies German warships bombarded Dunkirk. The rumour probably originated through misreading French official communique issued to-day. ROYAL MESSAGE TO NEW ZEALAND. SPLENDID CONDUCT AND BRAVERY OF OUR TROOPS. His Excellency the Governor informs the Prime Minister (the Right Hon. W. F. Massey) that he has received the following telegram from His Majesty the King : f heartily congratulate you upon the splendid conduct and bravery displayed by the New Zealand troops at the Dardanelles, who have indeed proved themselves worthy sons of the Empire.—George R. His Excellency has replied as follows : On behalf of myself, my Government, and the people of New Zealand, I desire respectfully to thank Your Majesty for your must gracious message. We are proud of the manner in which the New Zealand troops have acquitted themselves, and we eagerly look forward to hearing farther details of the operations in the Dardanelles. — Liverpool.
