BOWLING.
Yesteiday afternoon there was a good muster of bowlers on the green, and a number of competition matches were got off. There was also a good attendance of croquet players, both lawns being occupied. Afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Hislop. The following are the results of competition matches played : Witchell Trophy. —Nye (9) 29, heat Kail (12) 26, and Ball (12) 33, beat Petrie (6) 25. Golder Cup.—Nye (9) 2-f, beat Hislop (serf 17, Pairs. —More and Spring (4), 28 beat Sweeney and Wbibley (3) ii and Bryant and Nye (6) 26 beat Wbibley and Barber (3) 19. Mr C. Spring, who has been caretaker of the local green since its inception, has been made a life member of the club. The club intend this year to have the green levelled aud in this connection Mr S. Jickell, of Palmerston N., through Mr W. Beck, president of the Palmerston Bowling Club, has kindly consented to lake the necessary levels.
