CLOSER SETTLEMENT AT MOUTOA.
Mr J.-Chrystall, of Foston, has purchased from Mr Hammond 690 acres of land at Moutoa, just behind the creamery aud adjoining Dr. Walls’ property. ' The purchase price was slightly below £17,000, just under £25 per acre. This land was part of the original Moutoa estate.
In conversation with Mr Chrystall this morning we were informed that he intends to cut it up into suitable dairying farms. Mr Cfarystall says the land is preeminently suited for this purpose. A portion at the back requires improving. Up to the present the land has been used for cattle fattening purposes. In reply to a question as to whether the laud is subject to flooding, Mr Cbrystall said that a large portion of the Moutoa property was subject to flood waters, but since the construction of the stop bank this menace has been removed. The closer settlement of this land spells prosperity for Foxton and we hope others will follow Mr Chrystall’s lead.
