MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.

The municipal elections will take place on Wednesday, April 28th, when the electors will be called upon to choose their representatives on the Borough aud City Councils aud Harbour Boards for the*uext two years.

From present appearances there will be no contest for the Mayoralty locally, Cr Chrystall being the only candidate announced so far.

In addition to the Mayor the local Council consists of nine members, and we understand that with the exception of Cr Chrystall (who is a candidate lor the Mayoralty) and Crs Whibley and Speirs who have signified their intention of retiring, the remaining six will offer themselves for reelection. The only new aspirant who has definitely announced his candidature is Mr W. Kirkley, but a number of others are mentioned as likely candidates and no doubt when nominations close it will be found that an election will be necessary. The present local representatives on the Poxtou Harbour Board are Messrs Hennessy aud Jeuks. On the Wellington Harbour Board Messrs J. G. Cobbe and M. Cohen represent the combined Manavvatu - Oroua - Horovvhenua districts, and both gentlemen will be candidates for re-election at the forthcoming election.
