A donation of money was received by tbe Carnival Committee from the employees of Messrs Saunders Bros.’ mill.
Mrs Uiiimau was in charge of the doll guessing at the Carnival, and the amount of money received for guesses was about ,£4. The doll’s name was “Elizabeth,” The name was selected by Mr Park, of Palmerston, and placed in a sealed envelope until the competition closed. Three ladies guessed the right name, and in the draw off, Miss Newtb, of Foxton, wou.
Edle Firth, of Whitauuui, is now on the road to recovery, after undergoing a serious operation in the Palmerston N. District Hospital.
