The manager and all the employees at the Whitaunui mill agreed to a cessation of operations on the day of the Moutoa Sports. The sum of £s was donated by the mill employees to tire and the cutlers at the same give £lO. A donation of money was also received from the Maitai employees on the day of the Carnival. Waller I and 2 : ladies chain stepping, Miss Newth 1 : thread the needle race, F. Dudson 1 : Tug of-War, the Settlers defeated the Flaxmills employees; tug of war ou horseback, Shannon J ; best turn-out, Mrs Morgan 1 ; turning competition, Moyuihan 1 ; maiden jump, Smith 1 ; pony jump, Ingram 1.
