CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor)
Sir, —I believe ray correspondence concerning borough finance and administration has been referred to as an attack on the Town Clerk during his absence. Such a statement is absurd, as I was unaware of the Town Clerk’s absence at the time ray first letter appeared. My first letter was based on a paragraph in your paper, protesting against the Clerk’s salary-remaining the same while his duties had been materially decreased. I, or any other ratepayer, can claim the right to criticise the financial administration of the Council independent of the whereabouts of the clerk, I claim that my criticism was fair, and I might point out that there were over fifty applicants for the position of Town Clerk at per year.—Yours, etc. Ratkpaykr.
