CORRESPONDENCE.
(To the Editor)
Sir, —Though agreeing with some of the statements in your correspondents’ (“Ratepayer,” and “Ratepayer No. 2”) letters, still I think it a pity they did not sign their names instead of using a nom de plume, and so prevent others being blamed. I myselt have been flatly accused by several people of writing those letters. Now is the chance for ratepayers, if they are not satisfied with the way the Council is run, to come out in the open and offer their services for the benefit of the town as a whole. Also, the ratepayers of the town should take more interest in their own affairs by attending council meetings and seeing for themselves how the business is conducted, when they would be able to see who were the best meu to re-appoiut or reject. It is to be hoped that the various candidates will come out on the public platform and give us their opinions as to what is best to do for the benefit of the pubEc. Hoping that correspondents in future will have the courage of their opinions, and not hide their light under a bushel, but sign their names in full, —I am, etc., H. W. Richmond.
