ENTERTAINMENTS.

ROYAU PICTURES

At the Royal to night and Saturday afternoon, an exceptionally good programme will be presented, including a thrilling and sensational star drama, “Greed,” telling of the life of a man who, through the crime of another, suffers many hardships, and even gaol, before be ultimately comes in for bis rightful riches. The story contains many pathetic episodes, and reveals an intimate insight into varying human natures, and the contest of right in the mastery of wrong. Two other attractive dramas, “The Higher Law,” and “Fire Coward,” are included in the list of films. An item of local interest will be found in the film depicting “Scenes in Manawa'", and the comic element wui again be provided by the Keystone Company in one of their popular “side-splitters,” “False Beauty.” On Saturday night, the seventh series of the Lucille Love picture will be screened, and will be in addition to the ordinary programme, which is headed by the star film, “The Fires of Ambition.”

MUNICIPAL PICTURES. The programme to be screened at the above pictures to-morrow night is an excellent one. The star film, “When the Men Left Town” is the best comedy ever pioduced by the Edison Company. The other items are : “She Gave Him a Rose,” comic ; “Topical Budget” ; “The Padeoue’s Plot,” drama ; “A Study in Costumes,” comic; “For King and Country,” war topical; “The Hunger of the Heart,” drama.

“HUMPTY DUMPTY” PANTOMIME.

All the members of the above combination that open at the Coronation Hall on Saturday night are both young and experienced, and they are said to make a speciality of putting zeal and energy into their business seldom seen in other combinations. An element of novelty is being introduced into many of the dances, while most of the songs will certainly linger long after the company depart. The March of the Allies is a special feature of the pantomime. ” Humpty Damply” is claimed by the management to he a great laugh producer and a vertiable procession ot smart witticisms, excellent specialities, choruses, marches, ballets, etc. These are all made the most of by a really clever coterie of “ Fun Distributors,” and the high standard of the staging. Lennon Hyman and Lennon the world famous acrobats, do some marvellous feats, and their turn is practically a show in itself. Although no less than 65 people appear in this production popular prices are being charged. Box plan is now open at the Town Clerk’s office.
