IN OLDEN TIMKS.

Some of the necessaries of Hie were very dear in Wellington and other parts of New Zealand filty years ago. The following list ct retail prices was given by the Post of 28U1 June, 1565 :

A paragraph of Bth August, 1565, stated .—“The price of flour has diminished at Auckland. Superior Chilian flour has fallen to and ,£ls a ton, and the four-pound loaf is now sold at nd. Twelve months ago the four-pound loaf was 13d.” Subsequently a condition of war in Chili checked the export of flour for a time, with a consequent rise in prices in New Zealand.
