On Saturday last a team from the Tei ranee End Club visited Foxton to try conclusions with the local club. The result was : Terrace End 12 games, F’oxton 5. Following are the scores (Terrace End players being mentioned first) Men’s Singles. Nash 3 v. C. Bryant 6 ; Carter o v. Jackson fi ; Luxford 6 v. White 2 ; Stubbs 0 v. Clark 6; McMurray 6 v. N. Bryant 2 ; McMurray 6 v. Gabites 3. La.diks’ SINGI.KS, Mrs McMurray 8 v. Miss F. Ed wards 6; Miss L- Wilson 6 v. Miss Kent-Johnson 1 ; Miss K. Wilson 6 v. Miss Honore 2. Mkn’s Doubles. Carter and Nash 7 v. Bryant and Jackson 3 ; Luxford aud Stubbs 6 v. Clark and White 3; Stubbs and McMurray 3 v. N. Bryant and Gabites 6. Ladies’ Doubles. Miss L. Wilson and Mrs McMurray 6 v. Misses Kent-Johnson and F. Edwards 4. Combined Doubles. Carter and MEs Wilson 6 v. Jackson and Miss Kent-Johnson 4 ; Nash and Mrs McMurray 8 v. C. Bryant and Miss F. Edwards 6 ; Luxford and Miss K. Wilson 6 v. White and Miss Honore 2. The local competitions ar almost completed. Mr P. Jackson won the gents’ trophy, aud the final in the ladies’ competition will be decided this week, Miss F. Edwards meeting Miss McKendry. Iu all probability another tournament will be commenced at an early date. A considerable sum has been expended iu improvements, aud the courts are now in good condition. It is hoped that players will roll up to practice, as Visits from other clubs are expected in the near future.
