BOWLING.
Another attempt to win the coveted Dixon Cup will be made by the local club to-morrow, when a rink will visit Dctunevirke and play the holders of the trophy there. At the beginning of the season the Cup was held by Otaki, who successfully defended their right to retain on about half a dozen occasions. A rink from Foxton comprised of D. Whibley, Woods, Rimmer and Hislop (s), was one of Otaki’s challengers and suffered defeat by 24 sequently however, the Otaki players met their Waterloo, the trophy being carried back to Palmerston by a rink skipped bv Hodgson. The Shannon Club disputed Palmerston’s right to possess it and were successful, but did not enjoy the honour of holding it for long being defeated by their first challengers, Dannevirke, on January 13th. Dannevirke has retained possession since. The rink from the Foxton Club to-morrow will be comprised of F. Whibley, McColl, Nye and Rimmer (s). They will leave by motor at 10 o’clock. On the local green on Saturday Spring (8)'27 beat Gardes (11)22 in the Witchell trophy competition. The following is the drawing for the semi-final of the Golder Cup competition; Hislop (scr) plays Nye (9) ; McColl a bye.
