It is our painful duty to record the untimely death of Mr Mark O. Griffin, which took place at the District Hospital at an early hour on Sunday, aged 41 years. Deceased, who appeared to enjoy good health complained of feeling unwell after leaving work on Tuesday. Medical aid was called ir. and ou Wednesday deceased was removed to the District Hos-
/pital to be operated on for appendicitis. The operation was performed on Thursday. but deceased gradually sank, and passed away as above slated. A widow and six children (three boys and three girls, the eldest of whom is 13 years and the youngest 3 years) are left to mourn their loss.
The late Mr Griffin was for a time in business as a baker arid pastrycook in Wellington prior to joining Mr Perreau about live years ago. He was a quiet, unassuming man, held in the highest esteem by his employer and those who knew him. He took a keen interest in the local rifle dub and was a member of the Druids Lodge and C.E.M.S. The interrment took place yesteiday afternoon at the local cemetery. A
short service was held in All Saints’ Church and at the graveside by the -vicar, Rev Mr Raine. The Druids service was also read by
Bro. T. Mitchell A.D. Floral tributes were forwarded by the Druids Lodge, Ride Club and others. We extend our heartfelt sympathy, ia common with the Foxtou public, to the widow and family who have so suddenly been bereft of a faithful husband and affectionate father.
