ENTERTAINMENTS.
ROYAL PICTURES. Something out of the ordinary is promised patrons at the Royal to-night. The ordinary programme includes two special feature films, “House of Darkness,” and ‘ An Unseen Terror,” and in addition to this there will also be screened the Second instalment of “Lucille Love.” “House cf Darkness” is a Lubin film of an enthralling play of an aristocratic old family and hidden treasure ; and “An Unseen Terror” is by the Kalem Company, depicting a drama of rare power and skill. For Monday ami Tuesday nights some special films of great interest have been secured, including “ Animated History of War,” “ The Sacrifice,” and “ Down with the Huns.” MUNICIPAL PICTURES.
The programme for to-night is without doubt a most attractive one. The star drama, " The Adopted Son,” is a chapter out of real life. The photo drama is founded on the life of a leading Italian citizen, who began his career as an image seller, and rose irom the direst poverty to the highest pitch of affluence in his own country. There are no extravagant situations, no, attempt made to cater to the melodramatic. It presents certain salient aspects of Italian life with fidelity and restrain, while the interwoven love story is delightful and convincing. The war topical, “Lord Roberts’ Last Review,” showing him inspecting Lord Kitchener’s New Loudon Army is bound to be eagerly looked ‘oiward to by the audience. The other items of the programme are : “The Art of Nature,” Pathe scenic ; “Bobby’s Letter,” a delightful story of quaint humour and happy characters ; “The Wise Detectives,” a quick succession of absurdly comic incidents ; “Ginger’s Reign,” an unusual story of the lives of those passions are unchecked ; “The Old Fire Horse,” a particularly cheerful comedy replete with laughable situations ; “ Her Last Chance,” Keystone comedy. Ou Wednesday night the electrifying triumph. “ England’s Menace,” will be shown; this glorious British patriotic drama is the star photo play of the hour and should be witnessed by one and all.
PETER DAWSON. The gifted and world-famed baritone, Mr Peter Dawson, and his English concert party, including Miss Aunettee George (soprano), Miss Grace Newman (violinist), and Miss Carlion Jurs (solo piauiste), will give their concert in the Town Hall on Monday next. Throughout the world Mr Dawson’s name is a bye-word, by reason of his delightful gramophone records, but few have heard the singer in the flesh. Possessing as he does a charming personality, a quick and intelligent perception, and a beautiful rich and resonant baritone voice of extraordinary range, Mr Dawson’s concert numbers should be looked forward to by all music lovers.
