BOWLING.

The Manawatn Bowling Centre’s annual tournament, held on the Terrace End green on January Ist and 2nd. was very successful from every point of view. Eighteen rinks, representing eight clubs took part and some very good and interesting play was witnessed. One rink from Foxton —comprised of F. Whibley, McColl, Nye and Rimmer (s), competed, and the local players are to be congratulated on the good performance they put up. They played six games, of which they won four, and, with the exception of the winning team in the tournament, scored more points than any of the other rinks taking part. One of the games they lost was only won by their opponents on the 22nd head. On the 21st head Foxtw. v; one up, hut the opposing skip with his last howl drove Ibis out, leaving Foxtou four down, and making the scores equal. On the extra head the home team scored two. The teams that: lost to Foxtou included the rink that wrested the Dixon Cup from Otaki, and also the Terrace End team that succeeded in getting into the semifinal in the Wanganui tournament the previous week. The tournament was wou by Nash’s (Palmerston Club) rink, comprised of Young, Dixon, 11. Seifert and J. A. Nash, with six wins and no losses.
