ROYAU PICTURES.
To-night at the Royal the star film is “Fatal Cards,” an interesting and thrilling drama. This Aim will be supported by a good ■varied programme. To-morrow night (New Year’s night) a splendid programme will also be screened and on Saturday, night the powerful drama “As You Sow” will be shown. This is a drama with a purposepowerful, appealing and absorbingly interesting. “The Topical ■Budget”' contains the latest war news and is therefore of exceptional interest. Other films to be ‘screened are : “Kentucky Bill,” one of the Kalem Company’s feature dramas, full of strength and force ; “The Bully’s Doom, a comic by the Eubin Company ; “A Sister’s Rove,” a heart interest drama; and “Rube the Interloper,” comic. A film describing ,he sugar industry in Java is both interesting and educational and shows this industry from the commencement to the refined sugar. There will also be shown a fine scenic, “Yosemite Valley.” Altogether it is a fine holiday programme, The first instalment of “Lucille Love” will be screened as an extra.
MUNICIPAL PICTURES
The special holiday programme which has been arranged for tomorrow evening is a very attractive one. The star film for this occasion “ A Mexican Bull-fight,” is a wouderfull reproduction of a startling nature showing Spain’s national sport graphically visualised in every detail. The parade of pecadores, matadores, and banderilleros around the arena, procession of the pecadores on blindfolded horses. Letting loose the infuriated bull, the wild rushes of the maddened animal. Wonderful skill of the clever pecadore, thrusting the lancs into the animal’s Hank. The overthrow of the horse —planting the darts by the banderilleros. Spectacular sights. Thrilling moments. Extravagant enthusiasm of the immense throng of Spanish spectators, which finds an echo in the hearts of all beholders. The other items'are: “Pathe’s Gazette,” topical“ Francine,” drama of power relieved by some excellent comedy scenes ; “Airlos, and their Performing Dogs,” vaudeville act ; “An Easy Victory,” a breezy comedy ; “The War Budget,” splendid topical containing the latest interest of the hour; ‘‘The Wire Chief’s Reward,” great western drama ; “An Eavesdropper,” a great Keystone fuuraaker ; “The Capture of Louvain,” a special war film of great interest. For Saturday night the star feature “The Trapper’s Mistake,” will be screened. This is a true story taken from real life. It is founded ou fact, and unfold s a story of the turbulent lives of man and one woman surrounded by false friends and open enemies. It has for a background one of the most picturesque regions in the world. With a number of powerful characters, a series of dramatic circumstances, it chains the audience to the successive pictures in the play. These form a brilliant delineation of Canadian life, manners, and sentiment, at a period that was one of the most important in the development of that country. The story is persistent in its fascination searching in its analysis of frontier life. The other items of the programme are “Australian Gazette,” topical; “The Secret Crime,” a great play of power; “In Time for Work,” Humourisity; “ The White Feather,” a manly story of the West; “ Wiffles in a Workshop,” comic ; “ Lake Lucerne,” scenic ; “ Her Friend the Bandit,” Keystone comic.
