FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.
A meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board was held at Palmerston North yesterday afternoon. Present: Messrs P. Hennessy' (chairman), Jenks, Clapham ats Holben. ?
The treasurer submitted the following statement of accounts and receipts and expenditure since last • meeting: “There are no rents outstanding. It will be necessary to \ fix road contribution for ensuing J year—l2s 6d has been the amount for the two previous years. The matter of placing on fixed deposit for at least six months or until the matter of dredge is decided upon might be considered. Receipts:— Balance at Bank of New Zealand at May 12th 3s 1 id, pilotages ,£146 ss, river . lighting rents of sections and reserves ss, contributions to road £6 ns 3d and rent of telephone £3 ss, a total of 10s 2d. Expenditure: Harbour Master 13s 4d, assistant £3 . 1 is fid, benzine and kerosene £2s 13s, bar soundings 2s 6d, goods, tank and sundries £ll 6s - 3d, secretary members’ travelling expenses £l6 is sd, rent of telephone £6 10s, insur- . ance 13s, planting marram grass £3 i2S, repairs to launch and . beacons £6 10s 7d, printing and advertising ,£lO 8s fid, audit £2 , ■ legal expenses £2 2s, road contributions 17s 3d, total .£287 ns , 4d, leaving the balance at bank at '• £602 18s lod. It was decided on the motion of Mr Holben, seconded by Mr Clapham, that the chairman and treasurer be authorised to invest either on fixed deposit or otherwise ; also that the treasurer’s statement showing the credit balance at 18s rod be adopted and that the road contribution for the year 1915 be fixed at ten shillings. Several transfers of sections were approved and it was decided that Mr C. T. Easton’s occupancy of section be cancelled.
The harbour master reported as follows under date December 10th. —There is no improvement in the bar since my last report. The north spit is making out and the bar is going south. The channel is now straight out. There is a depth of nine, feet at high water springs and seven feet at neaps. There is no alteration in the river, it being fairly good right from the bar up to the wharf. The Board went into committee to discuss matters in connection with the wharf negotiations.
