WAR NEWS.
ENGLISH TOWNS BOMBARDED.
An official message, dated London, December x6tb, states: The Germans shelled Scarborough and Hartlepool. A British flotilla was engaged as the situation developed. Middlesborough and Redar were also bombarded by the Germans. The fortress at West Hartlepool engaged German war vessels, the enemy being driven off. A small German vessel fired on Scarborough and Whitby. Other messages state that important German movements are taking place in the North Sea. British flotillas are engaging the enemy at various points. Four German cruisers took part in the bombardment.
