ENTERTAINMENTS.

BUNTY FUELS THE STRINGS TO-NIGHT. ‘‘Bunty Pulls the Strings,” the great Scotch comedy which is to be played at the Coronation Hall this evening by Mr and Mrs Graham Moffat’s company of Scottish players, is not new to the world, as it holds a record run of over 600 nights in London at the Haymarket. It was first produced in Australia at the Theatre Royal, Sydney, where it met with immediate success. The Sydney Sun says : ‘‘Half the audience at the Theatre Royal seemed to have been brought up in the manse, or at least in the immediate vicinity of the kirk, so readily did they take delight in the artistic touches with which the new play ‘Bunty Pulls the Strings’ presents an intimate and true picture of Scotchbyterianism. That word is no vulgarism ; it is necessary to express the Scot in relation to his Sawbath. The other half of the audience, who were not Scotchbyterian, viewed the strange characters, so quaint and yet so human, with increasing interest ; and found them so queer and so likeable that when the curtain fell on the first act there were seven or eight re-calls before the applause would cease. So Mr Graham Moffat’s comedy, which is being produced by the author (with Mr E. J. Carroll as entrepreneur) started off in Australia with a great success. ”

MUNICIPAL PICTURES. To-morrow night’s programme promises to be one of more than ordinary attraction. The star film, “Hiuemoa,” dealing with the famous Maori legend in animated form, is one that should draw a bumper house. The other items of the programme are : Gaumont Graphic (topical), The Birth of Plants (nature study) Just a Song at Twilight (drama, with vocal accompaniment “Love’s Old Sweet Song”), Exercises and Test of Strength in the French Army (interest), The Bosun’s Mate (comedy), The Misadventures of a Mighty Monarch (John Bunny comedy).
