The Manawatu Herald. Tuesday, November 17, 1914. NOTES AND COMMENTS.
The financial result of the Juvenile Carnival Queen voting competition yesterday, realised a snm beyond the expectation of the most optimistic. The Belgian Fund will benefit in this effor alone to the extent of ,£IBO 8s 3d, and to-morrow’s Carnival, backed by the evening entertainment, should bring the total up to ,£3OO. We have no doubt but that this objective will be reached, provided the weather conditions are favourable. The unity and harmony which has characterised the townspeople throughout the whole affair, and the splendid enthusiasm displayed has been a revelation. Foxton’s practical sympathy with brave little Belgium is magnificent.
