BREACH OF MAINTENANCE ORDER.

OFFENDER SENTENCED

At the Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Mr J. W. Poynton S.M., Arthur McKegney was charged with a breach of a maintenance order in respect to the support of his wife and children, the arrears in connection with which amounted to 6s. Defendant did not appear. Evidence was given by Myra McKegney to the effect that her husband was ,£l2 6s in arrears. Since the information had been laid defendant had offered to take the children if complainant would withdraw the charge, but had afterwards refused.

The Magistrate passed a sentence of six mouths’ imprisonment in Wellington gaol.
