PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

The quarterly district meeting of the Foxton charge of the Presbyterian Church was held locally yesterday. Rev. J. M. Thomson, M.A. (moderator) presided. There were also present: Messrs Alex. Matheson, McCully, Richardson, Buglass, Alex. Speirs, Hornblow and Thos. Henderson. The quarterly financial statement was submitted and discussed. It disclosed a debit to the century fund, and it was decided that a special effort be made throughout the district to liquidate the debt. Accounts were passed for payment. The secretary was instructed to write a congratulatory letter to the Rangiotu committee in respect to their increased financial contributions. It was reported that the Foxton Ladies Guild had undertaken the expense of painting the manse, which met with hearty approval. It was decided to take up special retiring collections throughout the cuarge in aid of the Presbytery and aged and indigent ministers fund and Assembly expenses. The delegates were entertained at luncheon by the ladies guild. Subsequently a meeting of the session was held. It was decided that the minister be granted a month’s holiday. Mr McCully was appointed to attend the Assembly to be held at Dunedin next mouth in company with the Rev J. M. Thomson.
