ANOTHER SUBMARINE ATTACK.

H.M.S. HAWKE SUNK. The following cable was received from the High Commissioner this morning t The Admiralty reports, London, October 16th, at 1 p.m., that the warship Theseus was attacked by a submarine in the northern waters of the North Sea on Thursday alternoon, but the torpedoes missed her. The warship Hawke was attacked about the same time, aud was sunk. Four officers and 49 men were landed at Aberdeen by a trawler, but the remaining officers and men are missing. The Hawke is an armoured cruiser of the Edgar type, of 7,35° tons, having a speed of 20 knots. She was armed with two 9.2 inch, ten 6 inch, twelve 6 pounders, and five 3 pounder guns. She had no armour belt. She was built in 1893. The Theseus is a similar vessel, built in 1894.
