NO-LICENSE CAMPAIGN.

A meeting of the Otaki electorate No-License Council was held at Foxton yesterday afternoon. Delegates were present from all parts of the electorate. The Rev. A. C. Randerson, M.A., president, occupied the chair. A. good deal of routine business was discussed. The Alliance wrote stating that Mr P. Snowden, the English Labour M.P., would be allotted one night in the Otaki electorate. After some discussion and a close division it was decided that Foxton should be the centre for Mr Snowden’s address on the night of the 27th inst. An address by Mr Bedford was set down for Shannon. The majority question was discussed and it was stated that a large number of no*license supporters in the electorate had pledged themselves not to support ny Parliamentary candidate who was not in favour of the 55 per cent, reduction to carry National Prohibition or local no-license. It was unanimously decided to write the Parliamentary candidates on this subject and give full publicity to their replies. The chairman stated that the sitting member’s views on this subject were known —he was in favour of the bare majority. The chairman was authorised to draft a letter on the subject to the candidates. After the meeting the delegates were entertained at afternoon tea.
