FOXTON RACING CLUB.

The annual report and balancesh;et of the Poston Raring Club for the year ended July 31 sir, 1914, will be presented at the annual meeting of members to be held in the Council Chamber on Tuesday evening next, at 8 p.m. The report is as follows: — “The committee have again the pleasure of presenting the annual statement of accounts for the year ending July 31st, 1914. for the consideration ot members, and in so doing have much pleasure in recording a very successful year. The receipts from all sources, excluding the balance of £xBS 3s 9d carried forward from last year, amount to ,£3,778 4s, as against £3,677 I 7 S iod last year, an increase of ,£IOO 12s 2d. During the year the Club secured three sections in Whyte Street, at a cost of £125. Buildings and improvements, comprising cottage, 30 loose boxes and 16 teed rooms, costing £1,119 i Bs, have been erected on the property. This step was considered necessary by your Committee in order to accommodate visiting horses, as it was ascertained that there was not nearly enough accommodation to satisfy requirements. The stakes given by the Club were increased to the extent of ,£142 above last year’s figures. The year commenced with a credit balance of £IBB 3s gd, and, alter the cost of improvements (£1,119 i ßs), the debit balance is only ,£376 2s rod, which, in view of the heavy expenditure, is entirely satisfactory. The course, grounds and track are in excellent order, and reflect credit on the caretaker. In conclusion, the Committee have to thank all officials for their efforts in bringing the Club still further ahead in its position. The whole of the committee retire, but are eligible for re-election. The annual meeting of members will be held in the Council Chambers on Tuesday, October 13th, 1914, at 8 p.m., and all members are invited to attend, when a new committee will be elected by ballot from those nominated, viz., H. G. Hammond, R. Bryant, C. E. Mandl, J. R, Hynes, F. S. Easton, J. V. Burr, C. Hunt, G. C. Coley, E. R. Freeman.—W. E. Barber, Chairman. Endell Wanklyn, Secretary. October sth, 1914.” The statement of receipts and expenditure in connection with the annual race meeting held on January 22nd and 23rd, discloses a profit on the meeting of ,£863 15s 6d. The receipts totalled ,£3,722 12s, made up of ; Totalisator tax ,£2,504 res 6d, nominations and acceptances ,£516, gates £'252 xos, race cards £169 17s, booths £l3O, members’ subscriptions £99 3s 6d, outstandings from previous year £2B 19s. luncheon booth £2O, and horse yards£l 1 os. Theexpenditure was as follows: Stakes £1,685, cup £27 ixs 6d, totalisator tax £695 17s 3d, printing and advertising £144 2s 2d, secretary £75, assistants £24 3s, handicapper £3o, starter £2O, detective £8 Bs, car hire £7, stipendiary stewards £l9 7s 3d, luncheons £43 14s, stewards’ room £22 13s iod, race books £B, gatekeeper?, etc., £2O, ambulance £2 19s 4d, Borough Band £l4, and petty cash £ll, a total ot £2,858 16s 6d.

, The statement of assets and liabilities shows an excess of assets of ,£3,735 9s id over liabilities, the assets amounting to £4,275, made up of, racecourse, plant and buildings £3,050, and loose boxes, cottage and land £1,225. The liabilities are : Bank of New Zealand £376 2S rod, borough rates £125, a total of £539 10s nd.
