BOWLING.

The Shannon bowling green was officially opened yesterday atternoon, when visitors were present from Palmerston N., Levin and Foxton. There was also a large attendance of Shannon players, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent. Six members of the Foxton Club were present, and a rink comprised of Messrs Healey, Hore, Spring and D. Whibley (s) played a rink selected by the President of the Shannon Club, including Mr McColl of Foxton. The visitors were defeated by 25 to 15, The other Foxton member, Mr Bryant, succeeded in defeating Mr Gibson by three points. The Foxton players were very hospitably treated by the Shannon Club.
