POLITICAL.
In this issue, Mr B. R. Gardener, of Levin, makes the announcement that he intends to contest the Otaki seat at the coming election, and will stand in the Liberal interests, and opposed to the present Government. Mr Gardener has been a resident of the Horowhenua district for the past twenty-three years, and holds many important public positions, among which are, Mayor of Levin (tor nine years), member of the Foxton Harbour Board and Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. He is also the secretary of the Horowhenua A. and P. Association, which position be has held since the Association’s formation, Mr Gardener takes a keen interest in sports of all kinds, and holds positions in almost every sporting association on the Coast. He undertook the honorary secretaryship of the newly-formed trotting Club, and brought the meeting to a successful conclusion. Mr Gardener is energetic and capable, and will no doubt meet with a large amount of support.
