The following message was received at 2.30 p.m, to day from the High Commissioner, dated London August 26th, 5.5 p.m. : Official: The Allies are waiting the German attack in new position. In the last three days’ battle the enemy suffered tremendous losses. There is no news of the situation between Sedan and Nancy. The French are again taking the offensive in Lorraine. They have evacuated Alsace, and are concentrating elsewhere. The French re-inforced the British at Mons. The Russians’ advance is unchecked. Mr Asquith, in the House of Commons, said that it was not proposed to establish National service. The Germans on Tuesday attacked southern frontier in force, and were repulsed all along the line.
