News of the fighting between the Allies and the Germans is still of an indefinite and inconclusive character, but the advantages appear to be with the Allies. The British losses are set down at 2,000. There is a severe censorship in connection with the operations. An official message from Paris denies that the Germans captured Namur. Flying squadrons have driven out the Germans from the district round Antwerp as far as The Russians are still moving rapidly to the west, and have reached Farnopal, eighty miles east-south-east of Lemberg. Austria has declared war on Japan. Austria is mobilising troops on the Italian frontier. The Kaiser has ordered a vigorous defence of Kiao-cbau. The British artillery shooting is magnificently accurate. The Russians now practically command East Prussia. Of twelve Zeppelin airships the Germans have been using, five have already been destroyed. Prince Aldebret, the Kaiser’s uncle, was killed in the Tutco’s attack. The Italian Premier assured a group of Deputies that mobilisation is not imminent, and even if it did occur it would not mean abandonment of neutrality.
