WHAT FOXTON IS DOING.

Every town and village throughout the Dominion is contributing men and money to the Expeditionary Force, thus evincing their patriotism. Every centre of population has held public meetings, when patriotic speeches have been made and gifts have poured into the fund. Foxton has been moving along quietly and will not be found behind the others in the long run with men and money.

The Borough Council in conjunction with the Poplar Milling Co. have given an artillery horse, value £ 2B. Mr A. S. Easton, £25. Foxton Racing Club, £SO. Foxton Rope Works (Win. Ross and Son, Ltd.) rope to value of £25. Mr F. S. Easton, two horses, (one three-quarter draught and oue thoroughbred), value ,£9O. Contributions to Lady Liverpool fund between £4O and £SO A committee of ladies are busy in furthering the Lady Liverpool fund.

Further donations from leading settlers are anticipated. Between twenty and thirty local young men have volunteered for the front and the names of those accepted will be published as soon as definite replies have been received.

It must not be forgotten, if the mills close down, Foxton will suffer probably more than any other centre in the Dominion and this will hamper money contributions to a large extent from those engaged in industrial pursuits.

The farming community, however, can be relied upon to do their share.

The Mayor will be pleased to receive contributions from patriotic citizens or settlers.

Everyone should endeavour to makfe a little sacrifice at this time.

A local committee has also been set up to canvass for funds to re lieve necessitious cases should the mills close down.

The Lady Liverpool Fund closes on Wednesday next.
