POLITICAL.

A meeting of Relortu supporters was held at Moutoa yesterday afternoon for the purpose of forming a branch of the Reform league- Mr C. F. Johnston was elected chairman. Mr Paape, official organiser, addressed the meeting. A branch of the league was formed, and the following officers elected :—President, Mr W. J. Rees; vice-presidents, Messrs T. Bowe, Wm. Smith, and' C. F. Johnston; committee, Messrs Pigott, M. Newth, W. Hudson, A. Jaggar, S. Fenwick, with power to add ; secretary, Mr E. Greig, Mr Johnston was appointed delegate to attend the conference to be held at Levin on the 15th.

MEETING AT FOXTON.

A meeting of Reform supporters was held in the Masonic Hall last night, but owing to the war fever the attendance was small. Mr B. G. Gower, president of the local ranch of the League, presided. Mr Paape, organiser, addressed the meeting, and was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Mr B. G. Gower was appointed the local delegate to attend the conference to be held at Levin oh the 15th inst.

A well-attended meeting to form a branch of the. Reform League was held at Shannon on Saturday night. The following office bearers were elected :—President, Mr E. Law ; vice-presidents, Messrs R. W. Taylor, A. Saun- .

ders, and G. N. Stephenson; secretary, Mr W. J. Law; committee, Messrs J. Mitchell, C. B. Robinson, Saxon, Knyvett and C. F. Exall. It was decided to hold a meeting on August 12th, in the Druids’ Hall, when a delegate will be elected to attend the conference. He would be instructed by the Shannon branch as to which candidate they were in favour of as the official nominee. Mr Faape, the organiser, was in attendance.

A meeting of Reform supporters will be held at Rangiotu this afternoon.
