A meeting of Reform supporters was held at Otaki last Monday night. Among those present was Mr Guthrie M.P., senior Government whip. Representatives were present from Shannon, Devin and Manakau. The vexed question of selecting a candidate to represent the Government in this constituency was discussed at length. It was decided to set up committees in the various centres and form branches of the Reform Deague in order to thoroughly organise the Party. It was pointed out that two candidates were out in the Reform interest and either would be acceptable to the Ministry, but if success was to be attained at the polls one would have to stand down. A branch of the Reform Deague was formed for Otaki and officers elected.
