THE LOAN PROPOSALS.
WATER AND DRAINAGE DOANS REJECTED, GAS LOAN CARRIED. Contrary to expectations no great interest was evinced by ratepayers in tbe loan proposals submitted on Thursday, less than 50 per cent, of those entitled to record their votes taking the trouble to do so. Out of a roll number of something over 600 ratepayers only 286 votes were cast. A feature of the poll was the large number of informal votes cast. Tbe result of the water and drainage loan proposals were declared twentyfive minutes after the polling booth closed, both loans being rejected. A quarter of an hour later the figures in connection with the gas loan proposal were announced, this loan being carried. The following are the figures : GRAVITATION SCHEME.
