The Rev D. C. Bates wires today as follows The indications are for variable and strong breezes, but westerly prevailing and freshening but veering by west to south again after about 16 hours ; the weather appears to be cloudy and unsettled at times and rain probable ; the barometer has a falling tendency but rising again after about 16 hours ; sea moderate, tides poor but increasing shortly.
