HOODLUM ANTICS.
(To the Editor).
Sir. —As one who constantly patronises the dress circle of the municipal pictures, allow me to enter ray protest against the growing spirit of hoodlumism or wouldbe funnyismsdisplayed by acertain section of young men, who are supposed to be respectable and have a certain amount of common sense, but who spoil other people’s enjoyment by their ridiculous behaviour, first by making as much noise as possible when they take their seats, then whistling and keeping time to the music with their feet and throwing things about and making themselves a general nuisance. May I suggest that these horse play antics could soon be put a stop to by the hall manager taking the names of these would-be funny young men, and bringing them before the magistrate, who would no doubt deal with them in a manner that would be a lesson for them ; for other patrons have a right not to he disturbed by such interruptions as are indulged in by these socalled “young gentlemen.”—l am, etc.,
