Stiles), and Crs Chrystall, V: Iderson, Coley, Whibley, Free- * k, Speirs, Read and Kempster. ,- JPhe following letter from Mr imnel, gas works manager, was r. Id:—“I received a copy of a I. isolation passed at your last aeeting that the gas manager and ,|is assistant do all the work required on the existing mains and Services, and lay all new services. As I cannot honestly ask anyone ;lo do what I would not do if I were in his place, I hereby tender my resignation, and would like to ' be relieved of my duties on Saturday, July nth, 1914-” The Council went into com‘vmittee to deal with the matter, and ■‘.on resuming business the following motions were carried : ? Proposed by Cr Speirs, seconded by Cr Coley: That the resigna- ‘ don of the gas manager be with regret. ’•I Proposed by Cr Freeman, sec;'’onded by Cr Kempster: That applications be called for the position as working manager for the Foxton gas works, to close at Foxton at 7 p.tn. on Monday, June 29th, 1914. Proposed by Cr Freeman, seconded by Cr Read:. That the salary of the gas manager be 5s per week, and two shillings per week bicycle allowance. Also that he be allowed an average of 1,500 feet of gas per month for bis house, free of cost.
