PALMERSTON n,, May 27

This afternoon Detectives Quirke and Sweeney, who had been making inquiries in connection with the finding of the body of a newly-born child in a gravel pit on xVlilson’s Line, arrested Lydia Schultz, aged twenty-five, a domestic servant employed in the locality. It is stated that the child had been strangled with a piece of cord, which was found round its neck. The accused will appear at the court in the morning.
