THE HEMP MARKET.
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT.
The High Commissioner cabled at noon yesterday as follows : The hemp market is quiet. Owing to the Mexican situation neither buyers nor sellers are inclined to operate, especially in view of the heavy fall recently. Manila is easier, fair current, June to August shipments, 10s. The output for the week was 27,000 bales, Very little business has been done with New Zealand hemp, the Dominion not pffering. The market is steady; good fair, .£27 ; fair, ,£23 15s. These ate nominal quotations. May to July shipments of high point have sold at ,£24 15s, fair Second grade ,£l3 15s, third grade ,£12153. Sisal; It is impossible to obtain quotations from Mexico. The New York quotation is nominally 5.75 cents.
